St. Francis College Adjunct Faculty Union (SFCAFU)
Local 7965, New York State United Teachers (NYSUT), AFT, NEA, AFL-CIO

100% of the vote was in favor of approving the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
97.4% of the vote was in favor of approving the Constitution and By-Laws.

Both the Collective Bargaining Agreement and the Constitution & By-Laws have therefore been ratified by the St. Francis College Adjunct Faculty Union (SFCAFU) membership.

We have notified the College of the ratification of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

CONGRATULATIONS! We've now completed the first (and some would say the hardest) steps of our new union.  But there's more ahead!

Though we know most of you will not be on campus during the summer months, the work of the Union will continue. We expect to continue building the organization (increasing active participation of members, developing an outreach plan for newly hired adjunct faculty, creating a structure to help enable good communication between adjunct faculty in different departments and the elected union leadership, training stewards to monitor enforcement of the contract, etc.) over the break and preparing for the Fall semester when the first regular election of officers will take place. Please continue to check your email in the coming weeks and months for more information. But if you already KNOW you'd like to be more actively involved in the Union, don't wait for us to reach out to you! Contact any Bargaining Committee member below or call the Union office at 212-989-3470.

Finally, we expect that the payment of retroactive wages (again, any adjunct faculty member who taught courses in any semester from Fall, 2012 to the current semester will receive a check for retroactive wages) will take place in early to mid July. Especially if you do NOT have direct deposit, please make sure to notify the College of any recent address change so you can receive your check in a timely manner.
